When I turned 40, it snuck up on me. I didn’t think I looked 40. And I certainly didn’t feel 40.
But when I turned 40 I took a good look at my life. I had 2 wonderful children and a loving husband, a job that paid well and I had just scored a once in a lifetime work visa to Ireland.
But something was missing. When I looked in the mirror, I didn’t like what I saw. I may not have felt 40, but I definitely felt unhealthy.
I’d been trying for 10 years to lose the weight I’d gained from having kids and from the stress of having a sedentary office job with absolutely crummy bosses.
I developed plantar fasciitis - so my feet hurt all the time, I had constant issues with sciatica, I developed kidney stones and I just didn't have the energy to play with my kids like I wanted to and they deserved.
Mind you, my mom was a nurse, so I wasn’t fooled into fad diets or miracle pills. I knew it involved a healthy diet and exercise.
The problem was, I didn’t know what the right diet and exercise was.
I’d tried restrictive diets, and eventually dreaded each and every meal.
I tried counting calories, and found that I was measuring my life each time I thought about food.
I tried going to the gym, where I found myself comparing myself to all the gym bodies in there, feeling like everyone was judging me.
I tried to start running - because I'd read that only cardio will burn fat.
I tried working out at home with free fitness apps and logging my meals with another free app.
Nothing was working. That big fat number on my scale only ever seemed to stay the same or go up.
I was so frustrated, disheartened, and desperate!
When the pandemic hit and we were locked down, I was presented with the opportunity to become a health and fitness coach.
It was an eye opener for me. This is when I realized what I’d been doing wrong, what to do right and that I was not the only one.
A friend pointed out that I wasn’t alone in my struggles. I wasn’t alone in my emotions. I wasn’t alone in my pain. There were plenty of people who could use this knowledge to help them through their struggles, their emotions, their pain.
This is what inspired me to really take my health seriously and to be able to help others out there just like me.
Since January 2021 BOTH my husband and I have both lost over 15 pounds and have each dropped one clothing size….almost 2! I did it while holding down a full time job, a full time family and on a daily time crunch! I did it without restrictive diets or giving up foods I love! I mean, what's life if you can't enjoy your food? Am I right?
Now I have the energy to play with my kids and go on long hikes in the outdoors. I don't get winded going up a single flight of stairs. I don't get kidney stones anymore. I was able to go on a 4 hour walking tour of Athens Greece without being in pain. I can sleep soundly through the night knowing I am healthier than I was a year ago and that I did it the correct way.
I can hear you saying, what’s the trick, what did you learn?
I learned that we are all individuals with bodies that react differently to food and exercise.
I learned that it was easier than I thought.
I learned that I do not have to give up the foods I love.
I learned that I could do it with only a few minutes a day.
I also learned that without the proper guidance and understanding, I could not have done it alone.
This is why I developed my 3 Pillar Method - Build, Learn & Grow.
This works on the same principle of teaching a child as they grow or teaching someone a new skill, because that is exactly what we do.
Pillar 1 - Build
- This Pillar is all about Active Mobility, Caloric Balanced and Lifestyle Analysis.
This Phase is where we build a healthy lifestyle from the ground up, with a strong and solid foundation.
Pillar 2 - Learn
-This Pillar is all about Portion Control, Smart Eating and being Time Wise
This Phase concentrates on education. Learning and understanding that small changes do lead to major results.
Pillar 3 - Grow
-This Pillar is about Progress, Program Adjustment and Caloric Adjustment.
This Phase concentrates on analyzing progress through periodic progress reports where the program is adjusted based on ever changing activity and ability levels.
When combined with the right amount of commitment and dedication, it is GUARANTEED to produce results.
I am not finished with my fitness journey, but I know that I can get to my target weight AND be healthy, and know that I can keep it off, for good, while still eating the foods I love and not spending hours and hours at the gym.
I have been able to help so many amazing people with their different journeys - from the average men and women wanting to trim down to someone morbidly obese with Lupus.
I see and feel such pride and fulfillment in these people, and I hope to help many, many more in the future.
If you are sitting there thinking, this sounds great, but is it too good to be true? Then stop right there. My method is not just a workout plan given my some random trainer at a gym who is more concerned about sales than results.
Absolutely not!
I feel your pain. I understand your struggle. As I mentioned, I am over 40 and a mom of 2, who spent 15+ years chained to a desk at work. Now time to think about really getting fit or eating right. And no energy after a day at the office with hungry kids to feed every night.
I share this pain with you. I have been through the struggles of weight gain and body pains. I know what it's like to feel like you don't have a free moment.
My solution is your solution. I share with you the knowledge and experience I gained sot hat you can do it too. I have gained energy and added time to my day simply by planning my meals and eating better, and my family has benefited from it by also having appropriate portion sizes, adequate nutrients, a healthy body and outlet for their energies. And they even learned that yoga can be fun!! Who knew?
